Science Fiction Recommendations
I’ve finished several new ones lately, some I’ve reviewed at Amazon and others I haven’t, either for lack of time or indecision about how to put my conclusions about them. Even when I enjoyed them as much as I did these.
Ashes of Candesce seems to be the end of an incredibly imaginative five-part series. Count to A Trillion is another dandy, also a far-future story, that won’t lose your interest.
Then, there’s Night Trains, a time-travel tale, the sort of thing I don’t normally read but I’m glad I read this one. And Chronospace, another time-traveler. Hmm. I guess I do read them.
And, of course, there’s In The Lion’s Mouth, the latest installment of an absorbing Celtic space-opera series. And, while you’re at it, don’t miss Permanence, more far-future story-telling worth your time.

Ender’s Game was good, but the next one (whose title I can’t remember) was a bore and so I quit the series. Card’s a righty, hardly your type of writer, David.

Frikkin’ Card is way more left than I. If you had read any of his more recent material you would be in no doubt about.
I damn sure am not named “David”.

I had no idea Card was swinging left now. One more reason to ignore him.
Meanwhile, why don’t you try one of the books I DID recommend. Card ain’t on the list.

And re Card – what jdallen here says. I made same mistake and was feeling like being put to sleep by infusion after two books.

I always have a book (and sometimes two at once) in play, tho not always fiction. Life’s too short, etc…

Yeah, I thought Ender’s Game was good. Really good. But then I made my usual mistake and scarfed up all of the series, and started thinking about how really silly the whole idea was, and by the time I got to the last one, I was having trouble keeping my stomach contents from erupting.
Card, on the whole, after you read a bunch of his stuff consecutively (did I spell that right?) gets, ah, not so good as it was at the beginning.
To me, anyhow.
