The Invention That Changed The World
Birth control pills? The automobile? Antibiotics? Arguably. But in this case it’s radar, and Robert Buderi does a grand job of explaining why in the 500-plus pages of his sometimes technical, occasionally confusing, but always compelling 1996 classic, which I recently reread for the third time.
Perhaps it’s most compelling if you use your microwave (whose [...]

I was also part of the Dubai assassination
And why not? It seems the sticky-but-hapless gumshoes of the Dubai police force are asserting that all Jews are suspects. No kidding. Since about 70 CE, to be precise.
Via Simply Jews, where commenter David All has a funny: given all the suspects so far named by the Dubai coppers, one could paraphrase Hilarity Clinton and [...]

Homeland Security: Bozos at work
I mean, if you can’t manage to manage your own weapon… Don’t you feel safer now? I know I do.
Especially after this: Defeating the enemy by briefing the enemy. Yeah, that’ll work. Can anybody at DHS play this game?

Never forget
NYPD aerial from a collection of 9/11 aerials obtained by ABC News via a Freedom of Information request. Funny how they wanted these but continue to hide their own videos from public view.
More than eight years later, the emotion is still almost fresh. None of those people above the strike line (fire on right) [...]

C-130J
C-130s now have digital flight decks, and six-bladed composite propellers. At least the C-130Js do. More here in the latest from Michael Yon in Afghanistan.

Barry’s Kryptonite: Ridicule
Barry beclowned himself with his SOTU. The least we can do is return the favor:
“…we’d better get busy with the ridiculing, mocking, derision, scorn, belittling, shaming, parodying, satirizing and lampooning toot sweet like our lives, homes, families, nation and the world depend on it. (Because they do.)”
Worth a full read. Although I think the military [...]

Chomsky theology
Finally got a chance to read Rev. Sizer’s blog and be overwhelmed by his bleeding-heart for Hamas/Palestinian propaganda. Complete with color photos of their touching ceremonials. Though, oddly, without an AK or RPG in sight. Also the odd-snap of Israeli checkpoints (declared to be Apartheid), without a word of their necessity to prevent suicide bombers [...]
