The drought continues

Hope you can read the key. We are only in moderate drought, which is unusual considering this has been the sixth driest January thru October, at 14.95 total inches of rain at Camp Mabry, since 1856.

  1. When I see the sattilite loops on the TWC,I keep thinking ya;ll are getting rain.We had a fairly decent summer rain pattern, but its fast leaving us now.Unless a cold front gets stalled in the Gulf and sends some LP ripples across us,we are going to be in a very dry winter season.I’m not going to gamble on it and plant rye grass, can’t afford to pump water for it.

  3. Almost as soon as I posted this, thunder rumbled and the rain fell. We had a nice strong rain yesterday and more last night, but I doubt it was enough to dent the drought very much. I imagine the cattle owners hereabouts will be buying more hay to get through the winter. You?

  5. We put up some hay,and buy some.I do a lot of rotational grazing,so if we get moderate rain, and not many frosts,we usually get by using protien supplements and not to much hay.
