On a wing and prayer

Flying out tomorrow morning to Baltimore and thence by car to western Virginia for the niece’s wedding. Will try to post from there, but the only known computer available has a phone line connection. So?

  1. Our daughter, son-in-law and grandson live in Woodford, VA north of Richmond just of 95. They have high speed with verizon. When we go to Vermont, I have to use the local phone line. Almost like being in the dark ages.

This phone line I’m using right now in Quicksburg, Virginia, near New Market (site of a famous civil war battle) is pretty slow. But the guy who owns it, my onetime associate in Vietnam, doesn’t use the Web enough to justify a DSL line. It’s available, and he gets junk mail touting it, but he’s not interested. Meanwhile, I probably could post, but have inconveniently forgotten the log-in and password for Movable Type.

  3. So what’s so bad about a few days rest?
    Aw, shacks, I know, I know – it’s a disease 😉
    Have a good time anyways.

  4. I did, Snoop, have a good time, and a few days rest was a good thing, even if I did check the site and site meter every day, and my email. It is a disease, but not as debilitating as the journalism disease which I had for thirty-five years. After a mere six months of retirement, I seem to be in full recovery from that one, but the Web is different. Terminal, I suspect.
