A true, blogospheric success story. Only in Texas.
"All told, some 10,000 to 15,000 new readers from around the world have found The Brazosport News all because of the lump on Dr. Perper’s head."
Writing from the underarm of the petrochemical industry. I kid you not.

My mom used to scold me for staring at deformities in people we would see, but that never stopped me from doing it. The lump on the Coroner’s head is distracting to say the least and I don’t know how I would handle a face to face conversation with him. I doubt the story about being dropped on his head. It resembles a Lymphoma, a mass of fatty tissue.
I came to this site just like everyone else looking for an answer. I don’t think I have seen the answer yet but I have laughed ’til tears ran down my face at the posts I have read here. I am amazed at how funny all this seems to me but some see it as “cruel”.
I would think that if the good Doctor was embarrased by that thing on his head he would have it removed. Or, since it is part of his own body maybe he could have it transplanted to a site that could use a little bulking up.
Glad to have amused you, although I think you mean the posts at the link. They are very funny.
This is true just being “human” we do all look at things that are not to the normal likings to others… I do admit that I too looked but really never made it a focus of what I was really interested in and that was Anna Nicole Smith.
But, I did wonder what might have could have happened, and some make comments as to having it removed, but you see after this many years it does not bother him, why should it be a bother to others?
He can put a hat on his head and hide it but he has chosen to have he attitude of you can look, but be nice about it…
But as a young teen I will admit I used to and a friend too a well look and always find things wrong with others and would sometimes laugh… I do NOT do that today as I have had 4-children and 8-grandkids, and my best friend having 2 children and Praying to just have a grandchild.
I have always felt guilty about making fun of others about things wrong with them and believe me I am not perfect at all or near perfect, but my best friends first child was born 29 years ago with being a mentally challenged child, and medical problems as well as Cerebral Palsy, and walks but with knees bent and falls often but gets back up!
But, I have “ALWAYS” felt guilt of myself and best friend (his mother) making fun of others that, “I was being punished for the unkindness and rudeness of staring at others that looked different, my own daughter worn Leg Braces for the first five years of her life.
So, I think others should be careful of the stair and talk about others that look less than normal.
Please forgive me if I sound harsh, I promise I am NOT meaning too be at all… Just living it and see how everyone just watched him (my best friends son) and the stairs that he gets but don’t know why, but she does, “IT IS PAINFUL”…
I can’t say that I would not look twice if I saw something we don’t just see everyday in what we call our normal lives. Just poking fun at someone, you never know what you might go through one day.
My daddy always said, “It took him 50% of him minding his own business and the other 50% staying out of everyone else’s…Awwww, so true, but again we are HUMAN….
So, please don’t take my comment personal, I am just making a point of what I and my best friend used to do as teenagers (now 48 yrs old), can only try to teach my grandchildren to look at the person’s should not their appearance, and hopefully they would not do what I did when I was younger…
Thanks, Leslie Smith, Texas
