Vanishing tag

More on the trend to banishing the game of tag, and other competitive play, in public schools, this time in Connecticut. Although some of the commenters sound like loons.

  1. See, now, this is why I prefer to keep below the radar of people like the commenters (Or is it “commentors”? I can never decide.) on that post.
I can pretty much say what I want because only a few people read my posts, and I don’t have to waste any effort in defending or deleting stupid comments like those.

  3. Wow. I agree!! Let’s put a stop to the evil competition!! No more Olympics!! No more NFL!! Heck, while we’re at it… no more elections!!! Can’t allow for winners and losers on any level; after all, someone’s feeling might get hurt!!
Sheesh. Some of those posters need to get over the fact that they were that sad, slow “it” more than they would have liked.

  5. Welcome back, Anna. You may have something there. The anti-tag folks could have been “it” one too many times. JD, we both “enjoy” this distinction. But it is nice not to have to defend or delete.

  7. Yeah, and any person higher than, say, 173 cm (that’s about 5’9″ or something) will get a surgery to shorten him/her.
Oh, and let’s not forget leveling the IQ to moderate 85.

  9. oh, Snoopy… must we? There are WAY too many stupid people on the planet as it is….
I do like the part about shortening people though. My boys are both taller than me, and I find it highly distressing.

  11. Thanks for the nod. While some of the commentary is decidedly tongue in cheek (adrians comment) the initial barrage was completely lacking substance and, sadly, I have yet to understand the “risks” of allowing points during a kickball match.
I suspect they are quite in line with Snoop’s IQ moderation as the expectancy that any given child should understand simple mathematics better than that of another is completely unfair.
Given this, primary education should be fairly simplified in the aspect of: Pudding. To any unfair and inflammatory suggestion of learnedness the fair answer is universal: Pudding.
    10+8= Pudding
The Crimean war entailed what two belligerents?: Pudding and pudding.
The use of sunlight to produce sugar in various plants and bacteria is known as: Pudding.
The Greek poet Homer penned an intricate poem whose main protagonist was Odysseus. Said classic is known as: Pudding.
See? Any unfair question that attacks the delicate Id of any given child is ironed out with both the smooth consistency of mankind’s gentle dessert and the smiling face of Bill Cosby. Social woes are easily answered in one two syllable response.
