Waco vs. El Dorado

Instapundit and his readers are speculating about the reasons for the differences between the two semi-similar incidents. Why the current one is going peacefully and the former ended in death and destruction. In addition to El Dorado being a state operation and Waco a federal one, it could be as simple as the two dead ATF agents who started off the Waco conflagration. Few of us journalists unfortunate enough to have to spend cold nights out at the roadblocks waiting for something to happen believed for a minute that Koresh and his killers would go free. Cops tend to take murder of their comrades very seriously and to exact payback. Plus that, unlike Koresh, El Dorado’s charismatic leader was already in jail, which must have tamped the fire down a good bit.

UPDATE:  Well, this is no surprise. Similar behavior was said to be going on in Waco. But it was all for the leader. No buddy involvement there, apparently. Funny how these God-drunk folks often go for illicit sex. One thing about those feds, though. You can count on them to keep screwing it up.

Well, ain’t it said “procreate and multiply” somewhere? That must be it.

Hmmm. Yes, I suppose if you’re fanatical about that line, having more than one person to multiply with would help.
