You mean they weren’t already doing this?

Florida, it seems, will finally require people registering to vote to prove their identity with a valid state or federal I.D. Seems the law is "controversial." Wow. This is very old news in Texas, where you also have to show an I.D., preferably your driver’s license, before you can actually vote. If a state didn’t require this, how else would they know who the voter was?

  1. Had to show my drivers license and swear before the Town Clerk in order to register to vote in Vermont. I do not remember the procedure in New Jersey since I registered there in 1970. However, I think you just filled out a form and mailed it to the county election board. Since most of the people who work the polls have done it for many years, they usually know most of the voters and there are usually “challengers” from both partys to question if they fell it is not the correct person voting. 2. I may be wrong about Texas requiring i.d. checks against state and national databases, but they are pretty careful. Texas, like Florida, and just about every other state has had its share of voter fraud over the years.
