Army drops bayonet training

I think this has happened before. I’ll look it up when I have more time. They drop it as irrelevant to “modern” warfare. Then they bring it back as relevant to teaching aggression–for those who need to learn it. So, the next story likely will be the comeback of bayonet training.

  1. Why use of bayonet is solely an issue of aggression? What if your M-16 jammed and all you have when that other guy jumps on you is that bayonet?

Saying this, IDF stopped this training lots of time ago. Why – beats me.

One less thing to carry, I suppose. But many also carry hunting knives. As for aggression, well, bullets going downrange have almost an antiseptic quality. Bayonets are up close and personal.
