Rise of the Imperial City

Where? Washington, D.C., the capital of the Nanny State. Where else?

“Even as most of the country remains mired in serious housing recession, the capital has bounced back smartly . . . . The rise has been so dramatic that for the first time in five years, the average asking rent in D.C. is higher than in New York City….”

Read it and weep, taxpayer.

  1. Taxpayer’s stiff upper lip should win the day…

  2. Voting the bums out and starting with a new group of bums every 2-4 years would be lots better than stiff upper (or lower) lips.

The “noise” at the link is overblown. About what you’d expect from a liberal blog whose favorite boogieman is the “radical right wing agenda.”

The liberals are the chief supporters of the Imperial City, always championing the passage of new laws for this or that and more bureaucrats to enforce them.

  3. I guess you are right at that, anyhow I stumbled on this accidentally.

  4. It’s much ado, etc. by the folks who live to highlight these things to undercut their opponents. The Al Not-So-Sharptons, for instance.
