The World Federation of Scientists has a message for the Gorebot and his climate crazies: “Climate change in itself is not a planetary emergency.”

The Federation, composed of more than 10,000 scientists from 110 countries, had this to further say about that:

“Our greatest concern at present is that the intellectual climate for scientific investigation of these matters has become so hostile and politicized that the necessary research and debate cannot freely take place. Political constraints take the form of declaring the underlying science to be settled when it clearly is not; defunding or denigrating research that is perceived to threaten the case for renewable energy; or the use of odious pejoratives like “denialist” to describe dissent from officially-sanctioned views on climate science.”

Golly gosh-a-rooty, does this mean Obongo’s EPA will now stop its war on coal? Can miners in West Virginia and Pennsylvania get back to work? We’ll see, when we learn how much they really respect science that doesn’t support their politics.

A $22 billion Democrat boondoggle in the Panhandle

Since these five turbines can’t pay their own way without government subsidies—which also have to pay for the continual, imperative maintenance often neglected by private owners—plans for building them at Pantex, the federal nuke weapons factory and storage outside Amarillo, makes more sense than the ones on private land supposedly intended to, ahem, turn a profit.

Pantex’s federal land presumably will have the further advantage of the EPA turning a blind bureaucratic eye away from all the eagles and other birds these monsters are projected to start killing next summer. While producing supposedly enough electricity to run only sixty percent of the plant. And all for just $4.5 billion each. Each.

One of the contractors is Bechtel, a little firm that was accused of war-profiteering in Iraq in 2006. Can you say Democrat boondoggle with under-the-table payoffs all around? I knew you could.

A nice little tale from IsraellyCool of a friend’s Tel Aviv beach encounter with two Israeli Arab women in skimpy bikinis:

One of the city inspectors, patrolling the beaches, approached us and reminded us to drink water so that we do not get dehydrated.

I told him I had forgotten mine. My beautiful beach neighbours seem to have also forgotten theirs.

“I will get a popsicle as soon as the vendor gets here,” I answered.

“So will we,” answered one of the young ladies next to me.

“Ok, ” said the inspector, “I will send him your way.” And left.

A few minutes later, all three of us were left with ou[r] mouths open.

There, in front of us was the city inspector negotiating his way barefoot on the hot sand, coming towards us.

In his hands were three popsicles!

Welcome to an “Apartheid” state called Israel!

Has the illegal bombing started yet?

If so, it’s proof that so long as there’s a Democrat in the White House, the snooze media couldn’t care less if he’s also a dictator who doesn’t bother seeking advance approval for military adventurism from the UN or Congress.

Unlike W., the president who did seek advance approval and got called BusHitler for it anyway. But he was a Republican.

Not that the bombing or cruise missiling we’ve been told to expect to begin today is likely to have much effect, especially not after Barry leaked his plans in advance, apparently to make sure Iran didn’t hate on him and his other Jihadi pals had time to hunker down.

“There is no credible chance the U.S. can locate or destroy Syria’s entire holding [of chemical weapons] without a massive air campaign and [G-d forbid] some kind of presence on the ground. Even if the Assad regime has not done the obvious, and used the last few months to covertly disperse a large portion of its weapons, cruise missiles simply don’t have that kind of destructive power… the military impact will be marginal at best. Moreover, anyone who has actually seen wounds from conventional artillery — or badly treated body wounds from small arms — realizes that chemical weapons do not cause more horrible wounds.”

“Or as Nancy Pelosi might say, ‘We must bomb Syria to know what is in Syria.’ We are about to find out.”

Me, I’ll be happy if none of our pilots and assorted others, including Israelis, get hurt.

Obongo: our terrorist-loving prez

“Never did I imagine that the Americans would elect a president who would give open support to the Muslim Brotherhood, or that a Secretary of State would take as one of her closest advisers a woman whose family and background are connected closely to the highest levels of the Muslim Brotherhood organization,”  Howard Rotberg, on the Freedom Press blog.

Well, there is the amusing part that the close adviser turned out to be so dumb that she married a flasher. But not all of us voted for the black moron who sucks up to terrorists and we won’t vote for the Lizard Queen, either.

I’d just add that Mr. R.’s remark therein that Slick Willie disarmed American soldiers on their bases in 1993, setting up Fort Hood for a massacre, is pure BS. American soldiers have not, at least since the 1960s, carried arms on their bases except when in training or on guard duty. Nor were officers then allowed to carry personal firearms. I know the IDF does it, but that’s a holdover from 1973 when the invading Syrians caught them temporarily unarmed.

Why the Dems hate Fox News

Because of little gems of actual journalism like this Neil Cavuto find of a video of JFK endorsing a tax cut to get the economy moving again—in 1963!

“I’m in favor of a tax cut because I’m concerned that if we don’t get the tax cut that we are going to have an increase in unemployment and that we may move into a period of economic downturn.”

This was never rocket science, not even to the pol who won the presidency with a phony campaign about a “missile gap” with the Soviets. Kennedy was never as saintly as the Democrat media and academics have made him out to be since his murder.

But cutting taxes and cutting back on federal regulations used to be the mantra of both parties when the economy was in the tank. Until Obongo and Reid and Pelosi. They’ve rather see the little people on food stamps, the better to control their votes, and, meanwhile, hold rich people’s feet to the fire—not to do them actual harm, just to force them to pony up more of the bribes Obongo, Reid and Pelosi (and their media pals) like to call “campaign contributions.” Skunks.

Nifty new map

An interesting, counter-intuitive map of the 2010 federal census. Counter-intuitive because a) it shows most Americans are white (despite news media emphasis and fact that most advertising features black models and out-of-work black actors); b) blacks still live mainly in the South; and c) there’s still lots of empty space in the West. Click to biggerize.

I suppose had the millions of Hispanic illegals been counted, there’d be more orange than there is, but what orange there is shows that most of the legal Hispanics still reside in Texas, New Mexico and southern California. Not sure why Alaska and Hawaii were left out. They’d certainly have a lot of brown and red.

UPDATE: James Taranto on the blacks in the South phenom: “Now, why would blacks move out of big cities in the Northeast, the Midwest and California and into the South and the suburbs? In part for the same reasons nonblacks do: in search of better economic opportunities and quality of life. But also because the factor that drove blacks in particular to leave the South no longer exists. Jim Crow is now long dead, but it had been dead a decade at most by the time the New Great Migration began.”
