Classic gun threat and defense

“Alexander directs his muzzle roughly at the robber’s larynx from a distance of only inches, while maintaining his left hand in a position to deflect an attempt by the robber to raise his own handgun. Alexander says he followed this action by informing the robber that ‘you need to get out of here before I blow your head off.’”

With some free legal analysis from the law professor-proprietor of the blog Legal Insurrection. Who says that, as usual with these cases of right-to-carry, stand-your-ground gun defense, no shots were fired. Brandishing with a promise to kill was enough to drive a robber away.

  1. Somebody had an Oscar Sierra moment!

    • Yep. Pity the camera doesn’t show his face but the slight downard tilt of his head suggests that he’s eyeing the 9mm’s muzzle while thinking deep thoughts about eternity.

  2. That man has some guts for sure. And a good heart, letting the creep live another day. Although letting him go may kill somebody innocent in another place later. Oh well, you cannot have it all…

    • I think it’s less about guts than training and regular trips to the range. The former is required to carry and if you don’t do the latter, you’re nuts. He might, indeed, have just passed on the trouble to someone else, but he didn’t have a mess to clean up or time off work to explain it to his employers and the cops and then spend half his remaining life recovering from it.

  3. If that DWS then at least one end is worth looking at, but unfortunately both sound the same.

  4. OOPs, wrong place!
