The GOP’s substitute for impeachment

The GOP-majority House’s lawsuit against Wormtongue is the first time in U.S. history, according to Politifact, that a chamber of congress has sued a sitting president, although individual congressmen and groups of congressmen have sued presidents fourteen times before.

Since none of the previous lawsuits succeeded, it’s hard to see the new one as anything more than a political stunt, in particular a substitute for impeachment.

Which the Stupid Party apparently does not want to go down in history as having done to the first black (well, half black) president. Although it’s hard to see an unprecedented lawsuit against him as all that different. Meanwhile the powers-of-the-purse which could achieve the lawsuit’s ends more immediately go unused.

  1. Well, let’s just impeach the black half.

  2. That’s the half they’re afraid of.

  3. I have a feeling that so far the whole “action” serves the POTUS as a source for entertainment.
