Our scofflaw president

Joetato is mulling over buying Dimocrat votes for the mid-terms by unilaterally cancelling $1.6 trillion in student loan debt. He probably doesn’t have the authority to do it but he’ll do it anyway, figuring the courts won’t overrule him until after the election. So says John Hinderaker at PowerLine, and he’s almost certainly correct. It’s a small matter for Joetato, our scofflaw president, who already ignores court orders he doesn’t like.

Revolution in Wisconsin

“If parents want to ‘have a say’ in their child’s education,” Democratic Wisconsin Representative Lee Snodgrass sneeringly tweeted in February, “they should home school or pay for private school tuition out of their own budget.”

It turns out there was a third option: Take over the school board.  All across the state Tuesday night, conservative parents won decisive victories in school board elections, ousting liberal incumbents and sending a clear message that their communities will no longer stand for mask mandates and radical curricula.

Aw-nuld’s truth suspect

Especially when he got to the part about Jan 6 being an attempt (his eyebrows go up) to overthrow our government. The “rioters” were mainly a band of Merry Pranksters. One guy in buffalo horns turned out to be the son of a judge, another put his feet up on Pelosi’s office desk. None brandished, much less fired, a firearm.

Some have spent more than a year in prison awaiting trial, some in solitary. Just like in a totalitarian state. None have been charged with insurrection. That was a Democrat invention.

UPDATE: An OCS classmate, a former prosecutor, says they could have been carrying concealed. Yeah, and they could have been pixies in disguise but probably weren’t. What should we call it? The concealed insurrection?

Why Trudeau caved

He has tossed the legislation that gave him emergency powers (goodbye tyranny) because the Canadian Bankers Association was up in arms about his use of the powers to freeze truckers’ bank accounts. He had punched banking’s integrity in the gut. Sunlight is the best disinfectant.

I still bet his mother had something to do with it.

Canadian tyranny

Amazing, not that the cops broke up the blockaded streets in Canada’s capital, Ottawa, which was inevitable, but that the mayor is talking about selling the big rigs they had towed away. Bad enough that the federal government is freezing bank accounts (including credit cards) of some of the protestors. Or that a woman was trampled by cops on horseback, on video, which they are pretending didn’t happen.

Bet they wouldn’t do this to BLM or any other liberal bunch. But I guess that remains to be seen. With a Freedom Convoy (protesting Covid restrictions) abuilding in Mexifornia (already soliciting conservatives for donations for diesel fuel) and planning to head across the country to D.C., we’ll get to see whether Lyin’ Biden would dare pull something similar without being impeached.

Policing for profit

Fines and forfeitures, of cash and property, in other words.

“Policing for profit produces a predatory relationship between officers and citizens. Policing is no longer about protecting people, but about extracting money from them. This also promotes hostile interactions between police and citizens, which increases the likelihood of violence. The entire system winds up being corrupted. Can an accused person expect fair treatment when everyone in the system knows that its well-being depends on revenue from convictions?”
