DeLay’s conviction

I didn’t follow the local trial, so I’m not qualified to judge the verdict.

On the one hand it would not surprise me to find out that he, like Charlie Rangel (whose dishonesty went for personal gain and so certainly should be indicted but probably won’t be) and a host of other as-yet-unnamed national pols, are guilty of corruption.

On the other hand, I do think DeLay’s indictment was political and so his conviction may fall in the same category. He’ll appeal. We shall see what the arbiters of the law (as opposed to politics and emotion) have to say.

Charlie Rangel: The Tax Man is a Tax Cheat

Like Instapundit says, I’m sure AG Holder will be right on it. Unless being black is Charlie’s free pass.

UPDATE:  Looks like it’s finally the beginning of the end for CR.

Charlie Rangel’s $75,000 oops

Could the New York City Democrat have evaded taxes for twenty years because he’s the reigning pecksniff of the Congressional Black Caucus? Looks like it. Especially when he helps write the tax code for you and me who would get busted for a felony, no questions asked or excuses taken. Off to jail with us.

Majesty in every countryside

I admit I paid no attention to loudmouth Dem Charles B. Rangel rapping my father’s home state of Mississippi. Rangel’s just a New York yankee, so what the hell would he know? But the Dem’s slur on the Magnolia state brought out some poetry in a political rival, Mississippi Rep Charles W. Pickering.

“From the coast to the Delta to the Pine Belt to the hills and across Mississippi,” he said, “there is beauty in every city, charity in every heart, love in every church, and majesty in every countryside.”

Couldn’t have said it better.
