Here comes the snow

It’s official. The weather service has us down for sleet/snow Wednesday through Thursday night with nightly lows overnight tonight through Friday in the low 30s. The odds of it sticking, much less accumulating, are thankfully low. Nevertheless, I’m glad to see that Sol is pumping out spots again. I don’t think I would like another winter like the last two.

UPDATE:  Snow and sleet, briefly removed from the forecast yesterday, is back for tonight (Feb. 10) and tomorrow. Still no accumulation expected.

  1. Yay! There must have been 5 sunspots in the last week or so.
    Making my prediction solid.
Next year (2011) Al Gore will be bleating about the coming ice age just in time for the planet to start warming.
Wherever he goes it’ll be much warmer than usual.
    Because Gaia hates Al Gore.

  2. Now you got me totally mixed up. Do spots mean cold or warm?

  3. They mean normal, as far as current theories go. Unlike the AGW cultists and hoaxers, there is no certainty with Sol yet, the research is too new. Generally, though, it was thought that the solar minimum, with a dearth of sunspots, meant colder temps. Might even be responsible for this year’s unusually cold and snowy winter.

  4. Sunspots affect cloud formation.
The fewer sunspots the more clouds, the more clouds the less sunlight reaches the ground, the cooler the Earth.
    Supposedly.
