Longhorns vs Iowa State

Not exactly a doormat, but the Cyclones have never beaten Texas in Big 12 conference play, so there’s no reason to get excited.

"Burnt Orange Nation rolls out the official prediction…seeing a 30-17 win for the Horns. [ESPN’s] Bruce Feldman (subscription required) sees a wider margin of victory, 45-14. He loves the matchup between Texas’ wideouts and Iowa State’s vulnerable secondary. Elsewhere, CFN sees a 41-16 route from Texas."

At 2:30 p.m. CDT, live from Austin on ABC, and the Texas Longhorns Sports Network (KVET 1300 AM, 98.1 FM) we’ll find out.

Meanwhile, enjoy Cedric Golden’s take on Longhorn Tony Hills until it disappears behind the firewall.

UPDATE  30 to 14 Horns at the 4:30 p.m. half, but with a long radar line of red and yellow storms moving southeast, all those spectators look to get wet here before the third quarter’s over. Game was delayed at 5:15 p.m., with the score 37 to 14, because of all the lightning in the area, but rain hardly touched the stadium even as it poured on other parts of the city. When they resumed about an hour later, both teams held each other off until it ended 37 to 14. Upshot was the offense probably should have put up more points to keep the Bowl Championship Series officials happy since IS is unranked. Some minor injuries on offense and defense.
