Our generation will go into space

Black Line Ascension, a new New York space elevator LLC endeavor, has a new web site with a cool animation of what a working elevator would look like and what it could do for travel to moon, Mars and beyond… Worth a peek.

  1. Our generation will go into space
Maybe. Probably. But it’s not written in stone that the ones that get there will speak English.

  2. That’s the title of Black Line Ascension’s animation clip. My father’s generation has already been into space, if you count humans on the moon and mine sent robots to the outer planets. But a space elevator certainly would make it easier for the next generation (yours?) to go on to Mars and maybe beyond.

I’m not sure what my generation is. I was born in 1967 – too late to be a boomer. Too young to be whatever Generation comes after.
A space elevator would make a number of things cheaper. I suspect nothing in space is ever going to be easy – we’ll just get better at it.

  4. Main thing, it seems to me, is to privatize as much of it as possible, as soon as possible. The government will always be hamstrung by the politics of the moment.

I’m all for that. I’m biased of course but I’m pretty sure I’d hold that opinion even if I didn’t stand to benefit (directly) from it.
