It won’t be personal in the least, it will be over in minutes, and it might be that no one, including the USA, will respond:
"The second holocaust will be quite different. One bright morning, in five or 10 years, perhaps during a regional crisis, perhaps out of the blue, a day or a year or five years after Iran’s acquisition of the Bomb, the mullahs in Qom will convene in secret session, under a portrait of the steely-eyed Ayatollah Khomeini, and give President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, by then in his second or third term, the go-ahead."
A plausible, and therefore chilling, read. Fortunately, it’s only one scenario.

Benny Morris. I would take everything he writes with a grain of salt. It is not to say that the scenario is implausible. But he omitted the other side of the coin. Even mortally wounded, Israel can mortally wound. And while the Ayatollahs may not care about a few millions of Palestinians and other neighbors, they do care about themselves.
It is, as I said, only one scenario. I wouldn’t give up on a little saturated bombing by the US before Bush’s term ends. A subsequently-improved version of Israel’s new 737-sized anti-missle drone also might catch the nuclear missiles in the boost phase before they ever leave Iranian airspace. Making the move more than an embarrassment to the mad mullahs.
