No snow or ice

The ground’s wet at the rancho, but the temperature is rising. The sun is not expected to reappear until Wednesday, when spring should return. Meanwhile we’re off to the Hill Country to see the oceans of blue(bonnets) and other wild flowers.

  1. What, exactly, does a man who lives in Austin mean, when he says “we’re off to the Hill Country”? By definition (of us native flatlanders), you’re already there. ;=)

In this case, I meant west to Johnson City and on to Fredericksburg. Only Austin’s west side is really hilly. The rest is pretty flat. Wildflowers weren’t that good out in the real hills, though. In fact, they’re better on the shoulders of the highways around Austin.
