Mowing

It isn’t easy, mowing a wet St. Augustine lawn. Especially with an electric mower. I keep thinking I’m going to electrocute myself. Got through the lower forty without doing so. Now for the upper forty. Wet grass clips all over my shoes and the lower legs of my jeans. Had to take them off before coming inside. At least I don’t have Bosco to worry about. Have to get it done. Only light, intermittant showers today. Much more rain forecast the rest of the week and the grass was already high. I long for a truly hot Texas summer. And dry, dry, dry.

  1. Well, damn it, you COULD electrocute yourself.
With a lot of rain, like you have this year, and we have every year, electric mowers often just won’t cut it.
Bosco said tell you thanks for the mention. If it weren’t for the dreaded animal-blog stigma, I’d post a shot of him.

  3. Not much better in Vermont. Had 17 days with rain in July. Hasn’t rained since Saturday and none forecast until the weekend. Forecast is for 90 tomorrow. Guess summer came on July 26, 2007 and will leave on July 27, 2007.

I was exaggerating a little, jd. As long as the cord is intact (not split open anywhere in its length) there’s very little danger. Although the manufacturer may not recommend mowing wet grass, I don’t know. Actually the electric is pretty efficient, once you get the hang of dragging the cord around without tripping over it. But when the grass is wet, like today, you have to go back over the same spot twice to get it all. Anyhow, it’s done for another week.
This weather is something else, Eva. I disagree with the global warming stuff, but have to admit this falls in line with it, i.e. extreme weather. Sure has been extreme this year.
