The news that offbeat Texas congressman Ron Paul has regularly hung out with the white supremacist American Renaissance and taken money from Neo-Nazis doesn’t surprise me. Cobb has a good analysis, comparing AR to black race hustlers like Al Sharpton:
"I’ve boxed several rounds with AmRen types and their basic beef is typical white resentment–but when the rubber meets the road, they are in many ways the mirror image of the worst aspects of Sharpton.com: media hustlers who wish to try the courts and government in the media sowing seeds of paranoia and distrust."
I like blimps, but Paul’s blimp is floating out on the fringe with Huckleberry as far as I can see. Indeed, even farther out. In any case, he’s just about as electable beyond his base: i.e., no chance whatsoever. Meanwhile, it’s 28 degrees inside Paul’s silly blimp, floating over wintry Baltimore.
UPDATE This recitation of Paul’s bigotry doesn’t surprise me, though it seems unfair to rake anyone over things they said or wrote back in the day when black civil rights was a controversy and not a settled fact. The anti-Semitism, of course, is inexcusable, though not unheard of then or now.

yikes! Son Derek looks more like a homely woman in a bad hat, but okay… whatever.
My 16yo young man asked me yesterday why I thought Ron Paul was a whack job, and my memory being what it is I couldn’t answer. This morning I checked his issues link, where I learned that–other than the Iraq war–the only thing I disagreed with him on was the whole Tip-Tax thing… which, frankly, made my blood boil.
Thanks for reminding me of some of the whack-job-isms of Dr. Ron. Blimps and white supremacists?? Way too freakin’ funny.

The mere sight of Paul gives me gas.

wow…but when will he tell us what he REALLY thinks??
That whole non-taxable tips thing comes from the National Restaurant Assoc. I’m more than willing to bet the farm on. A few years ago, they were trying to cut their costs by making all tip-earning employees “self-employed” indepedent contractors who were responsible for paying ALL of the taxes due for their employment. Since that didn’t pan out, it appears they are trying to go about it another way.
Which… would mean that my darling daughter, who goes to college full time and works full time at Walmart, would be obilgated to pay her taxes, whereas the student in the next desk over who happens to be a stripper or waitress would not. Or, in his “single mother struggling” scenario, would mean that my ex who pays no child support would be free of his tax burden because he happens to STILL be a waiter as he nears the age of 50 while I–though I am working longer hours, making the same amount of money, and paying for all of the needs of his children–have to pay everything I owe the government on time and without complaining just because I hold a day job.
What is wrong with this picture?
Anyone who surrounds himself with nazis–neo or otherwise–and brothel owners (aren’t you tired of seeing that odious couple on Drudge Report?) should be laughed right out of office.
Merry belated Christmas, Dick!

Indeed, the tax laws are not for the faint of heart.
Also, that Gallup would have us believe that Hillary is America’s “Most Admired” woman…

…is the best evidence yet for the unreliability of polling.
