Name this flower

It’s embarrassing not to remember the name of a spring flower, but it’s too pretty not to use. Any ideas?

  1. Pretty, it’s true. The naming, though, is a problem. I think the whole variety of flora was invented by the creator, whoever he/she may be, to keep women occupied. I had never been able to remember more than about 10 kinds of flowers, and even that not necessary connected to how they look.

  2. Looks like spirea, to me. Is it just over head tall? Doesn’t mind direct sun at all, but tolerates some shade? Only blooms in the spring? Brown stems? Small leaves, light green, shaped like Clovis points?
Probably is, then. May be a double, that’s been popular for a long time.

Sounds right, jd. Only blooms like this in the spring. Planted under trees so it must tolerate shade. Leaves are pretty close to Clovis points, though I would not have thought to call them that. Thanks for the i.d.
