Our tax burden

For the feds it was 12.72 percent. For state and local, via real estate and estimated sales taxes, it was almost 10 percent. That’s roughly what some others pay in state income taxes, which pols here like to crow that we don’t have. But they do find ways to make up for it. Sadly, we will not be getting a federal refund this year. But all-in-all, I think we’re getting off light.

  1. A Federal refund is predicated upon the amount you have withheld compared to what you should have paid. Therefore, barring any other income, if you have taxes withheld at Married 0 and claim three exemptions on your return, you will get a refund. Joe

Yeah, but we had to pay extra, over and above what was deducted. Hence we will not be getting anything back.

  3. Let me see if I understand: 27%? This is what you call light? We call it nothing. If you want to see a monthly robbery act, come over here.

More like 23 percent. Annual. But we don’t have socialism. Yet.
