Elevator madness

I despise elevators. I know, intellectually, how they are made and how safe most of them are. Yet I dislike riding in them, especially when they sway, and I have nightmares about being stuck in them. Mercifully, I have not had to spend an actual forty-one hours trapped in one, like this fellow did in 1999. I can’t watch the video.

    Still 41 hrs trapped beats 10 seconds of free fall, I bet.
    So how do you deal with flying then?

    I deal with flying as infrequently as possible. Then I get an aisle seat and crank the MP3 player up to max volume, or take a nap.
