Barry and Hilarity want to tax Big Oil’s profits, of course, but not their buddies in agribusiness. Oh, no. The Dems want to increase their welfare subsidies, as if the issue was about "family farmers," instead of the big corporations that benefit.

    If a part of Big Oil profits were turned into alternative energy sources research and development, it could be a good thing. But when the money goes to bureaucrats first, there is a slim chance of this happening…

    I wonder which alternative tech is liable to be ready first. Sometimes I hear it will be solar cells. But it doesn’t seem very likely, given oil’s other uses besides gasoline, that we’ll be off the hook anytime soon. Meanwhile agribusiness is on welfare.
