Mr. B.’s third grade class goes on a field trip today to Aquarena Springs. So I told him to be sure to ask about Ralph the swimming pig. Ralph, alas, is no more. I’m glad I got to see him in action years ago. It says here the Aquarena Center is to be torn down to make room for some educational thingy or other. Heck, Ralph was plenty educational. Even historical. Or is that hysterical? It was corny, yes, but as roadside attractions went, it beat a smelly snake farm any day.

    All those great old roadside attractions down here,pretty much bit the dust,when Disney,SeaWorld,etc.,came into Fl.The state lost a lot of character ,when the gator wrestling,snake milkers,cypress knee museum types met their demise.Yes it was very hokey,but lots of fun.

    I want to know what happened to the “sadistic swan named Rufus”?
    Not to diminish the attractiveness of Ralph…wait what this remind me of?

    I missed the swan. I’ll get back on this when I get my DSL modem fixed. It’s so flukey, I can’t post anything. AT&T is supposed to fix it Monday.
