  1. It’s funny you’ve never read Zane Grey.
The only reason I’ve ever heard of Llano Estacado is because of him.
I can’t remember the book, it might be the about Buck Duane, a Texas Ranger, but maybe not.
I just got my Zane Grey books from my mother’s basement, they moved, so maybe I’ll try to reread them and let you know which are set in Texas.
He really liked Texas and Texans. I used to wish I was from Texas.

I may not have read ZG, but I’ve driven, walked and flown over the Llano Estacado (Palisaded, or Staked, Plains) more times than I can remember.
Lots of people wish they were Texans. Some move here to become so, though the natives look askance at their claim. I’m a bit ersatz, myself, since I was born in South Carolina, like Wm. Barret Travis of the Alamo. But my mother was a native so that helps.

  3. Notice he is flying Airbus. And I remember you were not a big fan of these machines 😉

Yes, from time to time I do think of all those people still strapped in their seats at the bottom of the ocean.
