Cobb links to a piece purporting to list the best rock albums of the past twenty years. I’m not familiar with a single one. Worse than Cobb who at least likes three. I should be ashamed, I suppose, but I’m not.
In fact, I am loading the new IPod Mrs. Charm gave me with the stuff I grew up with: Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, and Charlie Parker. Next up: Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Stan Kenton, etc. Stuff I can whistle. I’m too retro to live, maybe…

I am not a fan of Ipods, in fact my HTC X7510 is a much larger, but totally self-contained piece of Taiwanese machinery that does the music for me too.
But the list you got there (save Stan Kenton, have to look him up) says you could prepare a copy for me too 😉 Well, I would add John Lee Hooker and Miles Davis (selectively).
I already had an old iRiver MP3 player, filled with space music and some oldie rock and country. But when Mrs. C. got an iPhone, she gave me her iPod.
I never cared much for Davis. Stan Kenton was a big band leader of the 40s and 50s whose charts range from standard swing to almost-classical. Artistry in Rhythm is his most famous. You should check him out.
