Hatin’ on Sarah: Amazon’s Troll Reviewers

I suppose it was inevitable that even the "five-star" Amazon reviews of Sarah’s new book would be hateful. And full of regurgitated legacy media lies. The lead off one tonight is by "Gen. JC Christian, patriot," all of whose Amazon "reviews" of various conservative books are really beatdowns that tell you nothing about the book because the odds are that JC hasn’t opened it.

To guarantee that JC’s opus stays on top, people who agree with him/her click to say it was "helpful." So far he has 751 helpfuls out of 1,200 clicks. Many of the other first eighteen "reviews" are, like JC, mocking and anonymous. Who’d want to put their real name on such swill? Well, some do. Even trolls want their fifteen minutes of fame. Being, apparently, too cheap or lazy to get a blog.

Amazon can’t, apparently, stop people like JC & friends from gaming the system for their political hobby horses. They have, wisely, instituted a tag for a reviewer to click on that shows whether one has actually bought the book being reviewed. Their own computer system can verify it, I presume. It helps the neutral shopper decide whether a review really is a review. Neither JC’s effort, nor any of the other seventeen have the tag.

  1. She’s treading a dangerous path right now.
I like her a lot, I voted for her and unfortunately it had to count for McCain but… she’s getting very close to being a messianic figure.
Many of her followers are little different from Goreqemada’s followers.
It’s tough to balance that with reality. Very tough.

  2. I don’t know who Goreqemada is, or was. Nothing comes up on Google.
I like her, too, and I ordered the book. But I’m going to read it with an open mind. I hope it’s not as whiny as some genuine reviewers say. Like this fellow:

P.S. Nevermind on Gore-quemada. It took a while, but I figured it out. You might be right, but I don’t see her as messianic. I see her flaws. They don’t seem any worse than Barry’s, or any other pol’s. It’s the crazies who constantly condemn her who are driving normal people to like her. How could you not feel for someone under so much scorn?

  3. Oh, it’s about the Gen. JC Christian, my old foe. Actually, one time foe. He promptly erases from the comments anything that against his views. Creep.
And the review was removed, although it could be found on his blog.

  4. Yep, they took his opus down. (I didn’t know he had a blog). The number of “reviews” is now up to 57. But I only count nine with verified purchase tags and they are mostly positive. I’m looking forward to reading it. Anybody who drives the Left and their leashed media so crazy has got to have something worth learning.

  5. I didn’t mean to say she was messianic. As I said, I like her a lot.
I meant to say a lot of her followers see her as such.
Try reading the comments of a post where someone attacks her, like at Hot Air when Allah feels he needs to up the comment count.
It’s not as bad as a Ron Paul post, but it’s pretty darn close.
I like her a lot and that scares me.
Politician’s are people, and they’re the type of people who want power over their fellow man.
That whole mindset goes against everything I believe in, I want the world to leave me alone as I leave it alone.
A politicians wants to tell the world what to do.
And that’s why when I like a politician I’ve usually deluded myself.
The only two I think that I was right to like are Dick Cheney and Ronnie Raygun.
I can’t think of another one. I like Bush personally, he was probably a nice guy, but aside from killing terrorists and cutting taxes, he was one suck ass president.

  6. Well like her but don’t be blind to her faults. She has them, though I doubt her education or experience are among them. Look at Truman, he didn’t go to an Ivy League school. He did pretty well. Or Reagan. I could go on about Bush all day, since I knew him in his governor days. I didn’t much like him then. Came to like him after 9/11 and, especially, after the media and Left jeered him so much. But he didn’t fight back enough for my taste. Reagan sure whooped ’em now and then.
