Is his CPAC straw poll win important? Sure, to his loud and loyal supporters. Otherwise, not so much. After all, he didn’t win a single Republican primary or caucus in 2008.
UPDATE: The best speech at CPAC? Probably George Will here in three parts.

No, but he raised more money than any other Republican in 2008, and he’ll probably do that again this time.
The country’s in a different mood than it was just two years ago, and not a better mood.
True, but if anyone’s views can alienate a majority of the voters it’s Paul’s.
The year Ron Paul won only 40 delegates (remembering that Thompson won zero and Guiliani won 1) he only got about 10% of the vote at CPAC and was in about 7th place.
Obviously, something is rather different this year.
Nice to have you Paul supporters stopping by. We’ll see what we shall see, obviously. I’ll be happiest if the Dems lose their congressional majority and Barry is a one-termer.
Still, his neo-Nazi supporters seem to be delirious with happiness.
Fortunately, all of his supporters do not all fall into that odious category.
