Heroes of The Alamo

alamoThis is their memorial on the south lawn of the Capitol downtown. It lists the names believed to be accurate when the thing was built in 1891. Steve Greenhow, an Austin radio personality and friend who died of cancer not so long ago, who yet lives (!), wrote a time-travel saga published as a serial on Austin’s old Electric Pages bulletin board. In the story, the memorial was used as a sort of Texas Tardis. Photo via the State Preservation Board.

Died of cancer not so long ago, huh? Jumpin’ catfish! I’m dead? I guess that explains why I’m all transparent like Cary Grant in “Topper.” Thanks for the tip!

Finally, an honest opportunity to reference Mr. Clemens’ famous comment that reports of my death are greatly exaggerated. Where in tarnation did you get such information? From the newspaper or something? You didn’t mention the time-travel saga “:Atlantis Connection” was written on a KayPro4 which dates it to 1985. Thanks for remembering. This transparent thing was getting kinda weird.

Well, I’ll be durned. Haven’t heard from you in a coon’s age. Not sure where I got the idea you were deceased, but it was fairly fixed in my mind until now. Maybe you need to update your old site. 😉

The KayPro4 reference convinces me, however, that you are not a troll but most likely the real Greenhow. In which case my apologies. Happy to see you resurrected!

Yes, its been a coon’s age and more since we last communicated. No apology necessary, but thanks for the best wishes on my resurrection. Someone sent me a link to this page and was surprised to hear I was dead. So was I. Thought KayPro4 would be good verification.

Dick, thanks for the information about Juan Sequin burying the burnt remains of the Alamo Heroes. Had not known that.

David, you need to read “Texian Iliad” by historian Stephen Hardin—really the last word in Texas revolution and Alamo history.

    Cheaper on Amazon, however.
