That’s gunfire from Old Mexico across the Rio Grande into UT-Brownsville:
“UTB/TSC Emergency Warning #5
The campus is closed and evening classes have been canceled today and Saturday, Nov. 6, because of gunfire taking place across the Rio Grande.”
One more reason to remove the prohibition on marijuana, cocaine, etc. to wipe out these Mexican drug cartels. It’s Al Capone all over again.

Unbelievable. Mexico became a safari now. Where humans are the main prey.
Gringos have been prey in Mexico for a long time, but this cross-border stuff hasn’t been going on since Pancho Villa a hundred years ago.
I agree Dick. The Mexican drug cartels are a lot more powerful and violent than Al Capone & Co. ever were. The cartels are now using submarines they have built to smuggle drugs into the US in an undersea version of the old Prohibition era rum runners. The sooner we legalize or at least decriminalize drugs including cocaine, the better. It is time to end this nonsense of the drug war. Otherwise both sides of the Mexican-US border will soon go up in flames.
PS: For a good drama series about the beginnings of Prohibition in 1920 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, watch “Broadwalk Empire” on HBO every Sunday night at 9 PM, Eastern Standard Time.
