The stupid party strikes again

The pol behind the latest attempt to get the (always happy to oblige) feds to regulate the Internet is none other than U.S. Rep. Lamar Seeligson Smith, a Texas Republican, whose legislation has been bought and paid for by the TV/music/movies industry. The Austin/ San Antonio and Hill Country rep obviously is no conservative. He’s just another opportunistic pol on the take/make.

  1. Oh, every country gets one of those stupid initiatives from time to time. Thankfully, in most cases they are turned down. Usually it’s some pol being picked upon by bloggers or something like that.

  2. I do think it’s the enhanced freedom of expression on the Web, by bloggers in general and conservatives in particular, which the pols cannot stand, particularly the American ones. But there’s also the FCC which has been lobbying its favorite pols to enlarge its regulatory function, hire more bureaucrats, spend more tax money, etc.
