Time to buy gold

It worked for Bernie last time. Might as well make some money off our new Commissar Barry and his merry band of morons. Before the bottom falls out.

No need for us to join them in the poorhouse. They’ll only get to watch him and Queen Michelle eat cake. We can eat it too and have a good laugh.

UPDATE:  The price of gold is already on the move.

  1. I’ve thought about this several ways, only one of which I wrote up in the blog. But since I have mentioned this before in your comments, I’d like to offer up another bit about the recent unpleasantness (the election).

It seems like Romney achieved most of his gain in the polls before the election after the first debate, in which he vigorously attacked obama. In the final two, he backed off and let obama slide on almost every issue that made the incumbent look extremely bad.

If you are trying to unseat an incumbent, or if you are assaulting a fixed position, you can’t just hope for a draw. You have to attack, attack, attack.

Romney failed to do that, just as McCain failed. He didn’t fail as abjectly as McCain, but failed, nonethe less.

  2. I agree his first debate attacks worked well. But Barry’s stumblebum performance also helped Romney, who I am tempted to start calling Willard now that we know, as my mother-in-law said, he has no balls.

I don’t understand why he didn’t continue attacking, except that it doesn’t seem to be his modus. The analogy to combat is a good one. You win or you die. Republicans of Romney’s generation (which includes McCain, though he is older) just have a death wish, as far as I can see. They prefer to be gentlemen losers.

Got any plans to buy gold? Any advice on it?

  3. I can not buy gold. The only savings I have is in my 401K, converted to IRA when I retired. If I pull that money out to invest in precious metals (gold is good, but not the only refuge), I’ll be taxed severely, which I can not afford and continue to pay the exorbitant property taxes we have here in Texas, supporting our largely incomptent public school systems and moronic county government.

  4. Ah ha! The case against secession, right there. Since I asked I have done some research. I, too, would have to buy in such small quantities (a handful of Double Eagles, or so) that it would not really be worth it. Perhaps, as another blogger I read says: We should not take counsel of our fears.

  5. Actually, it’s a great moment for you and your fellow federal bureaucrats, David. No matter how bad the economy becomes for us peons under one of your high-tax, high-regulation Democrat presidents, our taxes are always due and you will get your allotted share of them.
