Officer Friendly’s latest abuse: taking down a journalist

Federal cops pulled a bait-and-switch on a judge and the freelance reporter whose Maryland home they ostensibly were raiding to search for possible illegal guns.

They took her files on federal sources and interviews, which were not mentioned in the warrant.

“Hudson wrote a series of articles a few years ago on the air marshal service and how DHS officials had lied to Congress about how many planes the marshals were protecting. This didn’t sit well with one of the Coast Guard cops who was part of the raid…”

It’s getting harder and harder to respect law enforcement and more and more compelling to not only stay as far from them as possible but to avoid helping them abuse their oaths and the society they only pretend to protect.

UPDATE:  Suing the Gestapo. At least we can still do that, though it remains to be seen whether the judges are as corrupt as the police.

  1. If it can be abused, it will be abused.

  2. The judge in this case ought to haul these guys back into court and demand an explanation. If s/he doesn’t, that’s one judge who ought to be whacked for misconduct.

  3. An agent for Homeland’s Coast Guard service? Yeah, on the face of it it looks stinky as hell.

  4. It might have been an impromptu move by the CG agent, but it’s still, ostensibly, illegal as hell. A side issue here is that there’s just too damn many federal police.
