Will Issa ever act?

“Are [California Republican Rep.] Darrell Issa’s numerous investigations intended to actually accomplish anything in the way of bringing this [gangster] government to heel, or are they intended merely to provide subject matter for his election brochures?”

So far he’s just Deadwood on the Potomac. No more than a font of snappy opposition quotes. No wonder the Republicans lose so many elections.

UPDATE: He does make demands. He just doesn’t back them up by using his committee’s power of issuing subpoenas to publicly humiliate the perp.

MORE:  Issa’s finally moving. He’s recalling the IRS’s 5th Amendment Queen Lois Lerner back to testify on March 5.

  1. Well, it pretty obvious to everyone but them, they need to fight or go home.

  2. Yes, the administration has amply demonstrated that they have successfully stonewalled Congress at every turn, and the press is fine with that. The Republicans have no backup plan except to watch Obama use his pen and phone.

  3. I expect racialism—fear of being accused of racism and the electoral consequences of that—is behind Issa’s and the Republicans refusal to act.

It’s the ominous indifference of the lapdog media that worries me most. Although, as I will assert in a subsequent post I think it’s more likely to lead to passive resistance (the so-called Irish Democracy) than open rebellion.
