Nothing Much

Miriam’s last name is Sawyer, it says on the cover of Nothing Much (which is actually quite a lot), though I never knew that reading her blog Miriam’s Ideas.

Her humor has always been gentle but still revealing and though she seems to try to avoid politics (I try but usually fail) she can be devastating with it, as in this excerpt from the book:

“I wasn’t always a Republican. I began life as a Democrat. This was particularly useful in Albany, NY, where Republicans did not have potholes in their streets fixed or the snow removed (There was a lot of snow)…”

So Miriam, one of those rare things, a Jewish Republican, sometimes takes a bloggy whack at Democrat losers like Al Bore. But mostly she writes about her former life as a librarian (very amusing in case you didn’t know that already) and family and manages to make it all seem very cozy. Even when it isn’t.

Most of the tales in the book are laugh-out-loud funny. I read them to Mrs. Charm who joined me in the merriment.

You need Miriam’s book. You need her blog. The former is just $1.99, big spender. The latter, you lucky dog, is free. See my blogroll on the left. So to speak.
