“The attempt by the Obama Administration to control the Internet as a public utility takes power away from consumers, website developers and small business owners and puts it in the hands of Government. This will drive up costs, slow down innovation, and put unelected political appointees in charge of picking winners and losers.”
Which is where the graft that is their main aim comes in.
“And it will take away America’s moral authority to argue that autocratic regimes have no right to assert control of the Internet in their own countries.”
Sign the petition. It’s all we have left against the autocratic Democrat Obama.

I still hope they wouldn’t attack the contents, only the infrastructure. Not that taking control of the infrastructure isn’t a problem, but at least it wouldn’t impact the freedom of speech.
They could attack the content through the infrastructure. By, say, telling blogspot and wordpress how many new bloggers they can sign up and how many of the old ones they’d need to shed first. And the balance of political views, etc. they’d have to maintain. I expect it to be deceptively benign at first and then turn onerous.
The old news media has hated the competition and will lobby hard to restrict it one way or another. In the graft game the biggest “contribution” wins.
