I’ve been telling Mr. Boy to consider becoming an electrician. He could take the college money, buy all his tools new and a new truck. Then, with plenty left-over for most of the price of a nice house in a high-demand neighborhood, he could get out there and make big bucks from the well-educated who are fearful of electricity.
But I’m wrong. Dead wrong. What he needs to do is to become a fed. That’s right a federal employee. Because that is where the big bucks really are, folks, up to twice six figures a year. Likely for doing no more than surfing porn on the Net half the day. And even when a fed is caught violating the law, she still gets a fat bonus.

My step-son is an ICE agent. He’s doing well, and has been promoted a few times, but his job is terrible. The hours and the stress are very destructive on the family and his body. I just hope he can make it to retirement or get promoted to the point where he doesn’t have to actually do anything, like, say, director.
Yeah, I think I would prefer the autonomy of a master electrician. Have you ever tried to schedule one? They are in great demand around here and until you get a relationship going with one can be hard to get without a week’s notice.
Yep. Electrician is a good choice. Plumber probably too, for most same reasons, I guess, but electrician has to deal with cleaner stuff.
As for the government salaries: I would guess that the ones that get these 200K deals are not under too much stress, most probably they left the stress behind years ago.
