Eye surgery

It’s difficult to write this, as the left eye is very blurry and the other is pretty clear. The one-eyed man and all that. Post-op conversation with the surgeon revealed that the left-eye cataracts were thick and required some unusual work to remove. So he was glad I was under full anesthesia. He installed a thin cover over the new lens which may fall out after a few days or wait until he removes it next week. Blurriness will continue for about four more days. Otherwise I should be seeing better soon and best after a prescription for new glasses. At least I won’t be gradually going blind from cataracts. So the future looks bright and I’ll have to wear shades. So to speak.

Family fun

We may be off to Fredericksburg to a B&B with a pool. Step-daughter has to sign off on it. No telling. We’d go in the middle of the week after Labor Day for three or four nights. We’d hope to spend time talking to each other, including at least one board game evening, but there’d always be shopping, restauranting, clubbing for the kids, and visiting Enchanted Rock about a half hour north.

Sedona would be preferred by all but with Amtrak cancellations and price increases due to fuel and food, it seems too dicey this year. And probably through 2024 as long as Slimy Biden is POTUS. Not to mention the threat of World War III. F-burg is less than two hours away from home, versus most of Texas and all of New Mexico.

Our Vietnam dead

Remembering our “lost” on this Vietnam Veterans Day. Curious that we have a day to ourselves.

KIA were Infantry OCS graduate Jacob Lee Kinser, tactical officers Reese Michael Patrick & Daniel Lynn Neiswender. And four dropouts: Sherry Joe Hadley, Reese Currenti Elia, Robert Kendrick Chase, and Jeffrey Sanders Tigner.

Not really lost, just “home” in the Greater Reality before us. Blessings on you all.

Removing Lyin’ Biden

“Biden must be contained or removed from office via the 25th Amendment, and that must happen soon, or the fallout from an ‘irregular’ election may be radioactive. His vice president may be intellectually challenged, as no one doubts, but she is not demented and is surely teleprompter-friendly. This would be making the best of a disastrous situation.”

It is to be devoutly wished, but, alas, not to be expected.

UPDATE: Not even with Tucker Carlson aboard.

Cataract surgery

Tomorrow at sometime after 10:30 a.m. when I’m supposed to arrive at the Bailey Square surgery center. It will be on my left eye, under full anesthesia, a relief as that one is quite foggy and getting foggier. The new lens in the right eye seems to be working okay, though I’m still going to need glasses.

UPDATE: It went well under full anesthesia. More later.

Mr. Boy & the draft

The Aggie came to see us on Saturday and cooked a dinner for us which was tasty: steaks, green beans and Idaho potatoes cut up and fried like potato chips. We talked about the possibility of the draft being reinstated and what he’d do in that case. He’s squarely in its sights, if it is reinstated as it was in 1973, since he’ll graduate from A&M in May and is 22 years old. In which case I’d want him to add a year to his service and go to officer’s candidate school as I did back in 1967. He tentatively agreed.
