Coldest night…

…in six and a half months. Predicted low of 45 degrees. Woo-hoo!

UPDATE: Officially, it got down to 42. On Bar’s Apple Watch, it was 39. But predicted to be back in the 90s by the weekend.

Hello this message is for Dick Stanley. I just came across your blog as I was looking up information about Russell Wheat. We grew up across the street from the Wheats in Raymondville, Texas. Our families were very close and we had a wonderful childhood. I have a few questions. What happened to Russell’s book about his experiences in Vietnam? He was writing a book in the early 70s and I have always wanted to read it. What happened to Russell’s niece? Where are his brothers buried? Thank you for visiting his grave and getting the headstone. I never knew he was such a hero in Vietnam. He never talked about it.

    • Sorry to be so long in replying. I knew Russ for many years and he never mentioned a book. His handwriting was terrible and he didn’t seem to own a typewriter let alone a computer which he professed to hate. I don’t know where his brothers are buried. Florida and Colorado, maybe. I’m sure he would not want to be called a hero. He lost so many of his men.
