The Afghan bugout

The Afghan bugout really isn’t political. Trump intended to withdraw, until he got bogged down in fighting impeachment. The pity of it all is it shows how incompetent our military and intelligence leaders are. They led us into another endless war that went nowhere. And ended up abandoning the people who had come to depend on us, who will now be murdered. No wonder there’s so many Afghan and Iraq veteran suicides.

UPDATE: This essay speaks to the veteran anguish that another endless war ending in collapse induces. Some of us will no doubt experience a reoccurrence of ptsd in the next few days, but hopefully not longer.

Past life

My first hypnotic regression by Cindi took me back to the 1800s and life as a widower, orphan and solo hunter-trapper on the Llano Estacado (the Staked [High] Plains of Texas). Comanche and Kiowa indians figured prominently, killing my Mexican wife, my Anglo parents and brother, and finally, at age 65 about 1885, murdering me. I had no children and was alone most of the time. Strange story, strange life.

The Crown

Is a series on Netflix about Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II (Lilabet, as her husband called her) that is mostly good. I’m on the second season now and still enjoying it. Some of the actors were also in Downton Abbey, which further amuses, watching them be someone different, or mostly different.

UPDATE: The Kennedys, before the assassination, visit QE2. The actors don’t much resemble Jack and Jackie. Her apology to Lilabet for saying snotty things about her and admission to being doped up by the WH doctors is bizarre. Maybe? Or not.

MORE: Season 3, Episode 1 has a new Lilabet and a new Phillip (trading Matt Smith for the villain of Outlander) and, suddenly, I couldn’t care less. Smarter would have been to age the originals. Oh, well, on to better (well, different) things.

Created Equal

A good documentary and long, biographical interview with Supremes Justice Clarence Thomas. Amazon has removed it from sales for no reason, other than that the Left hates the conservative Thomas, but Apple TV has it for rent for 29 days for $4.99.

He came up dirt poor in the Deep South but converted to his grandfather’s Roman Catholicism which led to college and Yale Law School. Thence a hiring as a prosecutor by Missouri AG John Danforth; thence to the Senate with Danforth and a circuit judgeship under the Reagan Administration and finally Daddy Bush’s ’91 nomination to the Supremes.

Slippery Joe has a role, fighting the nomination, allegedly for fear of losing abortion rights, based on nothing Thomas the Catholic ever said or did. And enabling his female accuser of sexual harassment, which he denied. Shades of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, another conservative and also a Catholic.

Barr the skunk

“What I am is an American patriot appalled at what has become of my country,” writes PJMedia exec Roger L. Simon in The Epoch Times. “And a great part of the problem—in its very essence—are people like [former AG] Barr and [ABC News’] Karl and the dance they do together [in The Atlantic]…a kind of preservation/elevation ritual for the Deep State and all who profit from it…

“Now [Barr] and Karl are collaborating to bury Donald Trump—or trying to.”

Still waiting for that Durham report/indictments Barr ordered up? Probably, as Simon says, for 2060. Wait on, suckers.

Idiot news

A Fox news blonde bimbo, “covering” the Boulder supermarket massacre, describes an AR 356 AR 536 as an automatic rifle. It is, in fact, a rifle scope, not a rifle. And automatic rifles have been outlawed for civilians since the 1930s days of the Tommy Gun. Just pathetic journalism.

For All Mankind

Good flicker on Apple TV. An alternate NASA history. The Soviets get to the moon first and the race is on to Mars and beyond. Best part is the American women astronauts.
