JNS was the source of a story I saw recounting a 20-year-old argument over whether a limestone ossuary (bone box) was authentic or an elaborate forgery. If real it authenticates for the first time (other than the New Testament) that Jesus existed. So I got interested. If you’re not, like I am not, a biblical scholar, you may still find it interesting.
“Clearly, if the James ossuary came from the Talpiot tomb, most would agree that the probability of that tomb being associated with Jesus of Nazareth and his family reaches a high level of likelihood,” James D. Tabor
That’s nice, but Jesus’s presence in the Afterlife, as recounted by many Christian NDEers would seem to be proof enough.
It’s a small town of about 30,000, about half of them Jewish. And whether or not the young shooter was/is antisemitic, even the survivors are devastated.

Accused mass shooter Bobby Crimo “also attempted a rehearsal of the July 4 shooting weeks earlier when he tried to enter a Highland Park synagogue during Passover just two blocks from where he ultimately attacked the parade. He was forcibly asked to leave by the temple’s armed security. He is a manifestation of all the left stands for, including wokeness, gender fluidity, and anti-Semitism.”
Glad to hear the synagogue had armed security, but many of them do nowadays.

UPDATE: Meanwhile, in Israel, a Jewish family was massacred at Shabbat dinner.

Holocaust Remembrance Day begins this evening, commemorating the closing of the Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp in Poland, the largest of many run by Nazi Germany which murdered 6 million men, women and children. It’s a somber day in Israel, where about 200,000 aging Holocaust survivors live, and about 20 percent of the young are polling as fearful of another one. Those over age 45, having seen more of life, don’t. But anti-semitic incidents are increasing across the U.S. and around the world. The old, irrational hatred lives on.
After an OCS chum said his wife’s doctor advised consuming garlic as a non-prescription hedge against Covid, I remembered an article that said Israeli consumption of garlic is second only per capita to China. The claim is that people who consume a lot of this pre-antibiotic folk remedy for infection, get bitten by fewer mosquitoes and generally stay healthy.
Reminds me of my Texas mother when we lived in Libya, in North Africa, when I was six. My 5-year-old sister and I liked to run barefoot through the dirt, which bothered mother no end. Whenever she caught us at it, she would turn to the lore of her Texas upbringing and make us eat a clove of garlic each to stave off the ringworm fungus, among other things. It was awful. So we worked hard not to get caught.

The FBI apparently did good work in freeing the hostages at Beth Israel, but, as usual, they were slow in releasing the name of the Muslim perp (UK citizen Malik Faisal Akram) who was killed in the process. And they denied any connection between his demand for the feds to release a convicted terrorist and his choice of taking hostages in a synagogue to make it.
Jacob Siegel, in a special report in Tablet Magazine’s emails but not, apparently, on Tablet’s site, reports that the terrorist, a Pakistani woman named Aafia Siddiqui, is well-known for being vocally anti-Jewish.
Siddiqui “…once wrote a letter to Barack Obama, according to Deborah Scroggins’ 2012 book ‘Wanted Women’ in which Siddiqui urged the former president: ‘Study the history of the Jews. They have always backstabbed everyone who has taken pity on them and made the fatal error of giving them shelter…This is why ‘holocausts’ keep happening to them repeatedly.’… During her federal trial in 2009, Siddiqui unsuccessfully petitioned the court to give jurors a DNA test to prove they were not Jewish.”
After her conviction and sentencing to 86 years for a mass-murder plot, Siddiqui said: “This is a verdict coming from Israel and not from America. That’s where the anger belongs.”
The Beth Israel takeover was not a happenstance but a clear continuation of the wars of radical Islam. And our own government’s potentially-fatal refusal to connect the dots in public.

UPDATE: After President Biden called the hostage-taking an act of terror and antisemitism, the FBI updated its previous statement to this: “This is a terrorism-related matter, in which the Jewish community was targeted, and is being investigated by the Joint Terrorism Task Force.”
