Tell me again, why are chemical weapons so awful?

It’s bad enough that a nation’s youth wind up fighting (and dying in) the wars their elitist “leaders” start and then sit back and watch from a comfortable chair with servants bringing them refreshments. But what’s with all this WMD whoop-de-do?

Nukes I can see. Yep, you could do a real mass number on a whole city that way. Nagasaki, for instance. Also biologicals, perhaps, though they would be somewhat easier to contain the swifter you could plan, manufacture and deploy preventative pharmaceuticals.

But chemicals? They’re called “gas,” apparently to scare civilians and save lazy journalists an extra sentence or two, but they’re usually heavier-than-air and so not at all easy to disperse, even in a crowded subway car. The Tokyo sarin attacks in ’95, were bad enough, but still managed to kill only thirteen, and permanently injure about fifty, and that was on several cars.

And, when you get down to the nitty-gritty, except for the inevitable bowel voiding and vomiting, chemicals leave a pretty nice corpse for the loved ones to gather round before the planting—much nicer than a pile of steaming offal, which would be the result of even an incompetent machinegunning inside that aforementioned subway car.

But, somehow, machineguns escaped the WMD label. Pure twaddle.

Thoughts on those black on white murders

I hear they are eight times more common than the white on black ones that get all the Democrat news media and all the politicians and all the hoorah. Well, maybe.

I do know that blacks mostly kill each other which, if they were only confined to the evil trash-talking losers among them, would be fine with me. Unfortunately they also tend to kill the achievers, not to mention the innocent little kids.

But really, people, my main thought is why are black people, i.e. American Negroes, so damned whiny? Well, the ones who are whiny. I know several hard-working ones who don’t bother anyone and just get on with their lives. And are very pleasant when we chat at the market.

Unlike a former Army buddy (I use buddy loosely as we never were pals) who grew up with a silver spoon in his black mouth and yet whines and whines about racism. He wants to kill George Zimmerman. What a moron.

I think the problem with these people began when the rest of us
paid attention when they got all bent whenever some of us refused to play along with their appellations-du-jour.

People of color, instead of colored people. Balderdash. Why do white people allow themselves to be forced to play this stupid race game? Okay, so nigger is a pejorative. Except when it’s in a black mouth. Hypocritical poppycock. We should take a break from this nonsense.

Let the race-baiters choke on their indignation. That’s a sight I would pay to see. If we did we might lose fewer Australian baseball players and 88-year-old WW2 vets.

UPDATE: Reading Cobb, an engineer who is not a black stereotypical in any way, I realized I’ve been missing the sensible LaShawn Barber. She quit blogging to try to make some money by writing crime novels under a pen name. I hope that’s going well.

Bezos’s WaPo buy

All I can say is that the $250 million Amazon’s Jeff Bezos paid is pretty cheap for such a famous brand, which illustrates just how far the newspaper biz has fallen since Monster and Craig’s, and the Web in general took away their classifieds for job, car, real estate ads, etc.

Will it change WaPo content from super-Liberal Democrat to something more conservative? Probably not, since Bezos is said to be a big Democrat contributor, possibly even to Obongo himself with whom he has lunched. Probably just a lot more of the same, though we might expect more private space industry coverage, with less snark about it. For a little while.

Most likely Bezos, who knows nothing about the news biz, just wanted a tax write-off to protect some of his wealth and the WaPo will disappear in a year or so. I hope this isn’t bad news for the one or two folks I know who used to work there and still get their pensions from it, but it looks like it is. I’m going to file this under Obituaries because I’d bet that’s where it’s headed.

UPDATE:  Breitbart News reports the WaPo had lost 87 percent of its value in the past ten years. Not terribly surprising, given:

“Over the years, the fake fact checks, the apparent coordinating with the Obama campaign to destroy Romney, the phony smears leveled at Republicans, the non-stop pushing of leftist causes, the unforgivable stealth-corrections, the laughably biased polls…”

Maybe Bezos can use it as a straight press release factory for the White House.

Baby Boomers, also known as the pig in the population python, are finally getting a chance at a notable accomplishment other than that swine wallow called Woodstock: they are committing suicide in such numbers that they may yet save Medicare and Social Security from bankruptcy.

““We’ve been a pretty youth-oriented generation,” said Bob Knight, professor of gerontology and psychology at the University of Southern California, who is also a baby boomer. “We haven’t idealized growing up and getting mature in the same way that other cohorts have.”  Even as they become grandparents and deal with normal signs of getting old, such as hearing and vision losses, many boomers are reluctant to accept the realities of aging, Knight said.”

Well, boo hoo. Just off yourself without making another big mess for someone else to clean up, okay? In case you’re wondering, I am not a Boomer. Born in 1944, I just missed becoming another porker in the big reptile. Fortunately. And being preoccupied in Viet Nam at the time, I also missed Woodstock, for which I have always been thankful.

I can see (and hear) the executive meeting in the publisher’s office where the print bigs ponder what to do, what to do, now that they have lost forever the bills-and-salaries-paying classifieds to the Net and the alphabets seek a remedy to Fox News.

Ah, ha, they hit upon it! If you can’t beat the Net, then you join the Net, and not with just a blizzard of advertising pop-ups on your snazzy new subscription site where subscriptions are going begging.

No, the brainstorm is more obvious than that (though, granted, snooze media executives have real problems with the obvious). It’s this: which Net product (after the ancestry sites, that is) makes the most money? Okay, after Fox. Exactly. Porn.

Well, you could go for a real merger, but probably not. How would you continue to get all those young PC women journalism school graduates to work for peanuts, for the thrill (down the leg and elsewhere) of helping the Democrat party maintain (and, yea, verily) expand its hold on America?

I’ve got it, yells the new up-and-coming rising exec star. And, lo and behold, the new angle is unveiled on MSNBC, the most blatant of the Democrat-pushing snooze sites: Introducing…. ta-da (or, more appropriately, ta-ta) Krystal Ball.

Krystal Ball. Get it? Sounds like a fifth-tier porn queen with grotesquely-inflated breasts, a MILF with pets, no children, who actually prefers DP? Yeah, okay, so what? That’s the point, ace. It’s the future.

On Memorial Day

These seven men of 60th Company, OC 504-68, were killed in Viet Nam.

We graduates of that 1968 class at Infantry Officers Candidate School, Fort Benning, Georgia, commemorate the seven each Memorial Day.

One graduate:  1LT Jacob Lee Kinser, a Huey helicopter pilot.

Two Tactical Officers:  CPT Reese Michael Patrick and 1LT Daniel Lynn Neiswender, both infantry commanders.

Four class drop-outs:  SP4 Robert Chase,  SP4 Reese Currenti Elia Jr., CPL Sherry Joe Hadley, and PFC Jeffrey Sanders Tigner, all infantry riflemen.

Rest in peace.
