A green wall

“…[H]ave army corps of engineers doze a mile wide strip on border. from the air, carpet seed cactus. really nasty cactus. really tight. a new green wall. [A]nd it flowers after winter rains.”—Waterman at Don Suber blog.

Sorry libs, there’s no climate crisis

“According to the U.S. Natural Hazard Statistics, in fact, 2018 saw below the 30-year average in deaths not only by tornadoes and hurricanes (way under average) but also from heat, flooding, and lighting. We did experience a slight rise in deaths due to cold.

“Pointing out these sort of things usually elicits the same reaction: Why do you knuckle-dragging troglodytes hate science? Well, because science’s predictive abilities on most things, but especially climate, have been atrocious. But mostly because science is being used as a cudgel to push leftist policy prescriptions without considering economic tradeoffs, societal reality, or morality.”

Not to mention all the people it will impoverish.

Game of Thrones finale

I liked it. Some may not. But I did.

It was a tragic ending for Daenerys, and for Jon (Aegon), but seemed to be the right one. He wound up more or less replacing Maester Aemon on the Night’s Watch. The end of the Targaryens.

The elevation of Bran was a bit of a surprise, but really shouldn’t have been. Why else come all that way, as he flippantly put it.

And, no, I’m not going to explain any of this.

Thrones adieu

Have now watched the first episode of the 8th and final season of Game of Thrones. Several times, in fact. Will watch again tomorrow with Bar.

Good to see the old gang again. Wonder how it will all play out. I think they will not drag out the battle but save time for resolutions for all. Shall see.

Can’t stop thinking about the train

Bar and I agree, we can’t stop thinking about our train trip and want to do it again this year. In October, probably, when it’s cooled off a little in West Texas, which is the route we’ll take.

South to San Antonio and thence to El Paso. At that point, it’s a toss-up. Back to Trinidad or continue west to her birthplace of Phoenix? We’ll see.

Tasteful Pussy

This is old about Playboy mag’s decline and revival but new to me and therefore…

Tasteful, via commenter rhhardin, I guess, is a side shot of pubic hair. Or, via Laslo Spatula, the immortal nude cleft. Leave the gaping, reddish wide, to porn.
