Five days before Memorial Day

Warning to military service members from the Federal Transit Administration in Washington, D.C.:

"Uniformed members [on Metro trains] have been approached by individuals expressing themselves as anti-government, shouting anti-war sentiments, and using racial slurs against minorities. In one instance, a member was followed onto the platform by an individual who continued to berate her as she exited the metro station…military members should be vigilant and aware of their surroundings at all times while in mass transit."

Disgusting. Be sure to thank the next service member you see, wherever you see them.

UPDATE: This may be a hoax, which is sad, but altogether better than if it were really happening. Read the comments at the link for more.

Cue the halo

A fitting reprise, now that Mother Sheehan has "retired" from her arduous campaigning. Casey can rest easy now.

Appeal for Redress

New media’s version of the Vietnam Veterans Against The War, but for Iraq. Just sign the petition, soldier, to urge a withdrawal from Iraq.

"As a patriotic American proud to serve the nation in uniform, I respectfully urge my political leaders in Congress to support the prompt withdrawal of all American military forces and bases from Iraq . Staying in Iraq will not work and is not worth the price. It is time for U.S. troops to come home."

They claim 1,902 have signed. Mighty scruffy-looking longhair in the green helmet on the right at the top of the page. A little too much Vietnam, guys.

Hiding the pea

When a political party manufactures a phony scandal, like abhoring "political reasons" for the AG’s recent sacking of six political appointees, we should look for the vanishing pea under the moving cups. Don Suber says the pea is the anti-war movement’s sudden escalation to office takeovers of their Dem supporters. Quick, hide the pea!
