Will losing CB Terell Brown hurt?

I don’t want to prejudge the arrestees, except to say that having a loaded (!) 9mm in the car with you is mighty thuggish, whatever the excuse of the moment. So TB is out of the game, and that’s his problem. Our problem is trying to figure out how bad will that be when the Buckeyes meet the Longhorns on Saturday?

Burnt Orange Nation doesn’t seem to think it will be a problem, and they’re sticking with their call made back in late July: Texas 30, Ohio State 24.

UPDATE  But Dallas Sports Powerhouse is not so sanguine, as their Scott Boswell came up with this succinct observation after the Longhorns opener:

"Colt McCoy looked good. Snead…not so good. Mack has made the right decision on the QB position. However, McCoy needs to be more careful with his decision making. Not only was he throwing the passes low enough that the receivers had to scoop them, he was throwing in to triple coverage. That isn’t going to fly against Ohio State and could very well cost us the game if not corrected."

Indeed.

UPDATE Brown’s dope charge was dropped after he and Gates tested negative for drugs by the football program, but the gun charge remains. Fact that it’s a first offense and gun was registered may save them in court, but fact of its being loaded might be problematical. In any case they’re out of the game, but late consensus is that shouldn’t matter too much.

FINAL  Well, something mattered, in the 24-7 loss, and Brown may have been one thing. Anyway, as of Sept. 13, Brown and Gates were both reinstated on the team, although Brown was still facing the weapons charge.
