Not the Rice Owls, they come later in the season. But the Florida Atlantic University Owls, champs of the Sun Belt Conference in 2007. Should be interesting, this first game of the Horns’ season which starts at six local time. The Owls’ coach thinks the Horns are soft. He may be right; we’re going to find out. Game’s here in town, so we had to get pay-per-view, or go sit in the nosebleed section for the same price. Nicer at home. Looks like rain, anyhow. Burnt Orange Nation’s forum is a good way to follow it.
UPDATE: Good Horns win at 52-10. Sure didn’t look soft to me, at over 500 yards of total offense. Colt is running better, passes better, too. Has good receivers in Shipley, Cosby, etc. Vondrell McGee running well. Could be an interesting season. Hope Charlie Tanner’s ankle is okay.
