The axis of evil

Remember? Iran, Iraq and North Korea. More on that secretive Israeli air strike/raid.

"Evidence that North Korean personnel were at the (Syrian) site is said to have been shared with President George W. Bush over the summer. A senior American source said the administration sought proof of nuclear-related activities before giving the attack its blessing."

One (Iraq) down and two to go.

The tragedy of multiculturalism

The modern American elite university, quick to condemn its own country, slow to confront much less to condemn obvious foreign evil, embraces an Iranian thug:

"Columbia doesn’t host ROTC or (I think) military recruiters on campus, because it would be just too offensive to do so, because the military obeys the law passed by a Democrat Congress and signed by Bill Clinton which bars open homosexuals from serving in the military," Michael Ledeen emails Instapundit. "OK…Why (then) think a man who heads a regime that executes homosexuals–not just excludes them from military service, but hangs them by the neck until dead, in public ceremony– should be honored with an invitation to speak at Columbia?"

At least Mahmoud the Mad has only talked about destroying Israel. He hasn’t actually tried it. Yet.

War with Iran

Why it’s near, and why we and the Israelis aren’t likely to be alone in waging it. So long as it doesn’t involve a land invasion across those mountain ranges, I hope.

State of war

This and Iraq Prime Minister Al-Maliki’s latest suckup to the mad mullahs are prime reasons to air strike them, but Robert Haddick at Westhawk doubts we’ll do it because, in the final analysis, it wouldn’t be permanently effective. Instead he foresees non-state terrorist groups going after Iran to stop their nuke program for their own reasons. Sunnis, I suppose. Al-Q biting the hands feeding it.

Dialogue

Omar at Iraq the Model will keep an eye on Iraqi news media tomorrow when US and Iranian ambassadors are scheduled to meet for a chat:

"I can’t see the slightest hint to concessions from either side so I strongly think that tomorrow’s meeting will be only about America and Iran telling each other what they want. The face to face part is the only difference."

The gang that can’t think straight

The porous CIA, the gang that can’t think straight, either is handing out secrets to their favorite reporters to make political hay, or this is a lie. Either way, it may get some Americans killed, as the outraged commenters note. ABC news, of course, couldn’t care less, so long as it can sell advertising.

UPDATE  Power Line, which I see the Left likes to call "Power Tool," thinks Bush could have had this "leak" made on purpose, for his own reasons, but Republican prez candidate Romney is incensed.

Soliders of surrender

Jeff Emanuel has a good explanation of why the British troops who were captured by the Iranians should be ashamed of themselves, and he shows why Americans aren’t likely to act the same:

"Given that all fifteen were not present in the propaganda videos, and some had to be cut out of the media’s pictures of the sailors’ release, it is entirely possible that there were a few out of the whole who did not break, who did not give in, and who did not so easily shed their personal honor. Unfortunately, these good men – whichever they may be – have been eclipsed by their comrades, from the officers down, who did not think their country worth the effort."
